Frequently asked questions
If PehleCheck says ‘Low risk’, is it safe?
Not necessarily. Low means the checks that ran didn’t find significant warning signs. New scams appear daily. If a message asks for money, an OTP, a PIN or remote access, verify it through an official channel anyway.
What does ‘Inconclusive’ mean?
There wasn’t enough evidence to judge, for example a phone number with no reports, or a link we couldn’t reach. We say so instead of guessing.
Do you read my messages?
Only what you send us to check. People at PehleCheck don’t browse checks. A short redacted excerpt is kept with each result until your retention period ends; the full text is kept only if you turn that on.
Is my message sent to an AI?
Only if you allow AI analysis, and only after card, Aadhaar, PAN, OTP and account numbers are removed. You can turn AI off by default and still use every other check.
Can PehleCheck get my money back?
No. Call 1930 straight away and report at cybercrime.gov.in. Your bank and the police are the only ones who can try to hold or recover money. PehleCheck’s incident guide walks you through the steps.
Someone reported my number or website, but I’m genuine.
Reports are reviewed by moderators before they affect results, and unverified reports are labelled as such. You can request a review on the Report page.
Can my family see my checks?
No, not unless you share a specific check. Alerts about your high-risk checks only go to your group if you turn them on.
Is PehleCheck a government service?
No. PehleCheck is an independent safety tool. It is not a bank, government agency or law-enforcement body.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual checks from your history, or delete your whole account in Settings → Privacy & data. You can also download a copy of your data there.
